Joanna Macy, Ph.D., author, teacher, activist, created a ground-breaking framework and methodology for personal and social change called The Work That Reconnects. Bill McKibben says of her work: “Joanna Macy is one of the planet’s treasures, not least for the remarkable cadre of people who have learned from and been inspired by her rooted and unstinting life.” Her books include Coming Back to Life: The Work that Reconnects; Active Hope, Mutual Causality in Buddhism and General Systems Theory; Widening Circles: A Memoir; World as Lover, World as Self; and translations of the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke. Joanna received honorary degrees from New College of California, Starr King School of Ministry, California Institute of Integral Studies, and Alice Lloyd College and was honored with the 2013 Bioneers Lifetime Contribution Award and a Lifetime Membership from the Rowe Center!
