Mark Matousek: Writing Through Fear: Self-Inquiry as a Path to Healing
“I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life – and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.” – Georgia O’Keefe
Check out Mark’s brief introduction to this course, the introduction to his book Writing to Awaken, and his video How Do You Live?
Many have been left traumatized by this challenging year, fearful of having physical contact, of re-entering “normal life,” and confronting significant questions left hanging by the pandemic. Issues of work, relationships, creativity, purpose, life goals, spirituality, and future unknowns loom before us as never before, raising fears that must be addressed if we hope to thrive in this changing time.
In this three-part guided writing series, you’ll have the opportunity to dispel your fears using Mark’s Writing To Awaken method of self-inquiry. In a gentle, supportive atmosphere, you will increase personal insight into troublesome patterns of anxiety, procrastination, and negativity that are interfering with your happiness, and the destructive stories that feed your fears.
“When you tell the truth, your story changes. When your story changes, your life is transformed,” Mark teaches. Known for his intuitive, compassionate teaching, he brings three decades of experience as an author, teacher, and spiritual guide to this transformational work. Writing To Awaken has helped thousands of people around the world to achieve their personal, professional, and spiritual goals.
Each two-hour session will begin with a brief teaching to introduce the week’s topic, followed by three writing exercises, selected readings, one-on-one dialogue with Mark, and group conversation. No writing experience is necessary in order to benefit from Writing To Awaken, nor will you be required to share your work. For participants who would like to share their writing, there will be opportunities to work in couples or meet in breakout groups between the live sessions.
