Taya Mâ Shere

Taya Mâ Shere is the co-founder of Kohenet Hebrew Priestess Institute, co-author of "The Hebrew Priestess: Ancient and New Visions of Jewish Women’s Spiritual Leadership" (Ben Yehuda Press, 2015), and "Siddur HaKohanot: A Hebrew Priestess Prayerbook" and a senior teacher and practitioner of Ancestral Lineage Healing. She is Assistant Professor of Organic Multireligious Ritual at Starr King School for the Ministry, where she trains emergent clergy across faith traditions. She is a senior teacher and practitioner of Ancestral Lineage Healing, a practitioner of Somatic Experiencing, and for over twenty years, Shere has led workshops on conscious menstruation. Her article, 'Your Blood is a Blessing,' was published in "God In Your Body" (Jay Michaelson, Jewish Lights, 2006) and "The Hebrew Priestess". Taya has tended menstrual-honoring spaces at music festivals and large spiritual events, and has supported many hundreds of bleeding ones in reclaiming menstruation as a sacred practice. She has been bleeding for over thirty years, and distinctly remembers feeling mortified when her parents took her out for dinner to celebrate her first period. Conscious menstruation is at the heart of her spiritual practice.

Taya Mâ Shere: Your Blood is a Blessing: Reclaiming the Sacredness of Menstruation, a Five-Part Online Experience

Even if this page says “Event Expired!”, registration remains OPEN until the course is finished. Sorry for the confusion.

Read Taya Mâ’s articles, Not Going Back and Finding My Way Into Conscious Menstruation.

Do you long to experience your bleeding time as rejuvenative and a source of power? Do you struggle with your period as a source of shame, distress or pain? Do you dream of an ancient or future way in which bleeding bodies are honored, loved and treated with reverence and respect?

In cultures and contexts across time and across the world, menstruation has been alternately revered, feared and shamed. In contexts in which menstruation is honored, the bleeding body becomes a potent portal for wisdom, healing and transformation. In contexts in which menstruation is desecrated, bleeding ones – and societies – suffer.

Join Taya Mâ for an immersion into menstruation as transformative practice. In this journey, we’ll explore and embrace the power and practices of honoring bleeding bodies and marking bleeding time as a time of restoration and transformation. You will discover new insights, possibilities and practices to deepen your relationship with menstruation as an experience and expression of embodied divinity. Fortnightly (every other Wednesday) Zoom meetings include core course content, conversation and practice.

This course is open to all who menstruate, who once menstruated, or who don’t menstruate but seek to heal their relationship with – or embrace the transformative potential of – menstruation.

As with our other paid programs, upon registration, you will receive a confirmation email that includes a link and password to access recordings. Recordings will be posted at that link within a day or two following each session.
